About The Freedom Road

Hi, I’m Carl Dodson — founder of The Freedom Road.

I believe freedom is built through small, consistent, good choices make over time.

I grew up on a small cattle farm in Oklahoma, where I learned the value of hard work early. By my teens, I knew farming wasn’t my future, but the lessons stayed with me: discipline, responsibility, and the willingness to put in the work.

After college, I spent nearly 34 years as a budget analyst in civil service for the U.S. Air Force. Along the way, I married Edna — who was a Tech Sergeant at the time. She went on to serve a full 20-year career in the Air Force, retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant. Together, we raised four children while moving to wherever the Air Force sent us.

Through those years — from the farm, to Air Force life, to raising a family — I learned that real freedom isn’t about having everything go your way. It’s about finding peace and purpose in the middle of life’s changes. And that peace comes from balance in three areas:

  • Financial – Make, save, and grow money wisely.

  • Mental – Choose the right mindset, friends, and spouse.

  • Physical – Stay healthy enough to enjoy life.

That’s why I started The Freedom Road — to share what I’ve learned about faith, discipline, and good choices, and how they can shape a steady, meaningful life.

No matter where you’re starting from, you can take the next right step. Your Freedom Road begins right where you are.
